The Ultimate Human and Canine Experience

Dog parks are magical places to hang out with our lovable four-legged friends.

Our vision was simple: create a one-of-a-kind dog park experience that’s designed for optimal canine and human enjoyment.

At Paws & Pints, dogs and their owners can enjoy over 20,000 sq. ft. of indoor and outdoor dog park space outfitted with synthetic grass. The turf is cleaned and sanitized from both sides to avoid mess, making it the ultimate surface for group play. The best part is, your dog can enjoy a park-like atmosphere regardless of what mother nature brings. When the weather permits, our dog park heaven extends another 3.5 acres to our natural grass backyard area.

For the humans, Paws & Pints offers plenty of indoor and outdoor TVs, live music, multiple bars for easy access to a drink, a walking trail, games to keep the kids entertained, WiFi, a restaurant for both you and your dog, special events and plenty of relaxing seating to watch your best friend have the time of their doggy lives!

paws & pints children policy & family day

Human and dog safety is our top priority and one of our toughest challenges is mixing children with off-leash dogs.

Unfortunately, not every young one grows up around dogs and every dog isn’t guaranteed to know how to behave around children, so we ask that you respect the following policy:

  • We require at least one adult to every three children.
  • Kids 6 and under are not allowed in our off-leash areas outside of Family Day.
  • Kids 7 -14 must be accompanied by an adult and stay in the immediate physical presence of a parent or guardian while in the off-leashed areas.
  • Kids 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult to enter Paws & Pints.
  • Kids are not to climb on any dog park amenities, run in the dog park or tease any of the dogs. Our staff will politely enforce our dog park rules to ensure safety

Children are allowed to be in any leashed spaces at anytime they’d like. Thank You!

Family Day

Every Tuesday starting at 12PM.

  • During those hours, all ages are allowed throughout the off-leash dog park areas.

  • During Family day we ask that children are still accompanied by an adult.

  • If your dog doesn’t respond well to young people, we ask that you enjoy the facility at a different time.

What is a temperament observation and why does my dog(s) have to complete one?2024-04-02T11:40:12-05:00

Safety is our number one priority at Paws & Pints: safety for you, your dog, and our staff.  For that reason, we require each new dog at our facility to simply meet one of our check-in staff members to make sure personality and temperament is acceptable.

There will be times where our staff feels an added screening may be needed.  If that is the case or in the rare occasion when temperament may not be acceptable, don’t worry, we have a solution!  Our onsite dog trainers, Imperial Obedience Training, offer a dog park/daycare readiness course that can help your dog(s) gain the necessary socialization skills needed to be able to stay with us.

Complete a temperament evaluation by scheduling one with our front desk.

How is undesired behavior handled?2022-04-13T14:54:32-05:00

Undesired dog behavior can be described as the following excessive actions: jumping, mounting, barking in other dogs faces, showing teeth and rough play. To combat unwanted behavior, we use different methods such as well-mannered verbal commands, redirecting, timeouts, separation and in some cases, we may have to remove a dog altogether.  By no means are any of these actions considered punishments, we simply want to keep the dog park safe and fun for all!

If the undesired actions persist, we may require you and your dog to complete a dog park safety course led by our on-site dog training company.

What if an injury happens during daycare?2022-04-13T14:55:07-05:00

Minor incidents will occur from time to time in the dog park. Our highly trained staff will assess the situation and in the event of an emergency, will take the necessary action. First-aid and time-out areas are also strategically located throughout the dog park and will be used if necessary.

Minor to moderate incidents can be handled by our veterinarian on-site unless you instruct us otherwise.  However unlikely, if a major incident occurs, Iowa Veterinary Specialties is one block directly north of our location and can handle any emergency 24 hours a day.

Is the synthetic grass safe and sanitary for my dog to play on?2023-07-20T13:28:50-05:00

We thought you’d never ask!  At Paws & Pints, our goal was to build the most enjoyable dog park possible. Any synthetic turf you see is safe, sanitary, and actually designed for canine play and enjoyment.

Can my dog get Kennel Cough from visiting P&P?2022-04-13T14:57:30-05:00

Kennel Cough or also known as Canine Cough, can occasionally be something that canine-related facilities have to battle.  At Paws & Pints, we go above and beyond to make sure your dog’s environment is clean and sanitary, but the reality is that viruses and bacteria can be spread by direct contact to one another or even through the air.

We require each dog entering our facility for daycare, a hotel stay, or for a dog park visit to be current on their Bordetella vaccination.  It is important to remember that like a human flu shot, Bordetella only prevents certain strands of the virus and therefore, depending on what type may be  spreading, a dog could still get sick.

It is vitally important that if your dog is showing signs of Canine Cough, you refrain from visiting the facility and consult your veterinarian. Signs of Canine Cough are:

  • A persistent, forceful cough
  • Watery nasal discharge
  • Coughing in dogs throughout the night that keeps them awake
  • Dry heaving
  • In severe cases, symptoms can include fever, pneumonia and more
Can my dog sitter/walker or someone not on my current account bring my dog to the dog park?2022-04-13T14:57:59-05:00

Yes. We require prior approval from the account holder for a guest visitor to enter.  Anyone approved to bring your dog to the dog park is fully responsible for your dog and your dog’s behavior.

Owner tips for your visit to the dog park(s):2022-04-13T14:59:25-05:00
  • The dog park is a safe and happy place for your dog(s) to visit, however, it can be hectic at times. To mediate some of this we suggest the following for your first visit:
  • Make your first visit during the week when it’s a little less hectic.
  • Remain in your dog’s presence until they get acclimated to the park.
  • Be careful when going in and out of any gates.  Dogs tend to be sneaky sometimes and can dart behind you quickly even when you are being careful.  Holding a door is polite but not at the dog park.
  • Please listen and obey our dog park supervisors.  Their one and only job is to help ensure safety for you and your dog.  Remember that you are always responsible for your dog’s behavior.
  • Keep in mind that dogs don’t have hands, so they play with their paws and their mouth.  Don’t be nervous to let your dog have some fun!
  • Make sure you keep your dog cool and hydrated during their visit.  Fresh water is located in several areas throughout the dog park.
  • No training collars or electric collars are allowed to be worn in the dog parks for safety reasons.
  • We highly suggest utilizing the leashing zones to unleash and leash your dog(s).  Leashed dogs in an unleashed environment can be unsafe.  We realize that sometimes your dog is having so much fun that it can’t be avoided in order to leave!
  • Most of all, have fun!  Explore all our dog park has to offer and if there’s anything our staff can do to make your experience better, don’t hesitate to ask!
