Your traditional Des Moines dog boarding facility is a place where your dog spends most of the day in a kennel, with minimal time to exercise and little interaction with staff. At Paws & Pints, we believe in providing a lodging experience that is comparable to a hotel stay. Our staff is here to accommodate your dog, making them as comfortable as possible. Dogs staying at the Mo’Tail & Spaw have the option to stay in one of our three suites with an elevated bed, plenty of let-outs during the day, one-on-one interaction with staff, calming music, a choice of multiple add-ons, and 24/7 supervised care. These suites, or dog kennels, include our Basic Suite, Deluxe Suite, and Luxury Suite.
Basic Suite
A 4×6 foot suite with a weight limit of 100 pounds. These suites also have a door in between that can be lifted giving you an option for siblings to share two suites together or if you have 3-4 dogs this gives you the option to share suites and not be separated. Our basic suites are in the middle of our lodging area with open air.
Deluxe Suite
A cozy fully tiled 4×4 suite that has a weight limit of 40 pounds and caters to smaller dogs and puppies. These suites are fully tiled in a private room making it a quieter space for your dog, with plenty of room to relax.
Luxury Suite
This is a 4×8 luxurious suite that has no weight limit with a little more privacy than other suites. Our Luxury Suites come with a TV and camera access for just $10 a day, so you can watch your dog from the Paws & Pints mobile app while you are away.

One question we get frequently is, “What does a typical day in lodging look like for my dog?” So, we broke down our dog boarding schedule for the average lodging dog:
5 AM: Morning wake-up call and breakfast
6 AM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
10 AM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
12 PM: Lunch if applicable
2 PM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
5 PM: Dinner
6 PM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
10 PM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
2 AM: Let out to use the restroom and stretch their legs
Without adding anything extra to your pup’s stay, dogs boarding at the Mo’Tail & Spaw get plenty of exercise, bathroom breaks, mealtimes, and attention. However, we all love spoiling our pups when we’re away, which is why we offer an extensive list of lodging add-ons to elevate your dog’s stay and reduce anxiety.
For example, daycare is an excellent add-on for dogs who are friendly and fixed (if over six months). We offer full days and half days, so your dog can get out of their suite and play with other dogs in a supervised setting. Some dogs may not like being around other dogs, which is why we offer a 20-minute playtime or walk during boarding stays. We also offer a weekend special which includes an hour of play with various enrichment activities such as our ball pit, snuffle mat, lure course, bubbles, and more.
If you’re anything like us, you miss seeing your dog while you’re away. When you add on an electronic postcard, we will send photos of your dog and an update on their stay from their perspective. You can add up to one postcard per day during their stay. Our favorite add-on that caters to all dogs is our field trip! We take our daycare and boarding dogs to our 3.5-acre backyard every Monday and Tuesday. A field trip includes an hour in the backyard where dogs can run around with fellow dogs or hang out by themselves while supervised by our Mo’Tail & Spaw staff.
We take pride in all our add-ons and the way they help make your pup more comfortable during their boarding stay. Other add-ons we offer include peanut butter or sun butter LickiMats, nightly turndown service, entrees from our kitchen, No-Hide chews, antlers, soothing saucer, probiotics, treat options, grooming services, and extra bathroom breaks.
